A while back I was inspired by friends and acquaintances to kickstart a website that kept all of my performances, resumes, cvs, etc. and even my thoughts all in one place. One of the pastors at my church said he had transitioned to online journaling and I thought that was the coolest concept and idea because the amount of journals I have ripped through since high school has been so many and I thought it was about to time to start joining the age of technology. Also, in the midst of COVID-19, I have a lot of time on my hands and thought this would be a good task for me to set up.

For this first blog post I wanted to just give a background of what this website is and also share a little bit of my heart concerning my mission statement that you can find in the "About" tab.

As stated at the beginning I wanted a website that had everything about me all in one spot. You will find my bio, my cv, my statement of purpose, my mission statement, videos from my youtube channel, links to my social media, ways to contact me, and something that is brand new for me, but might become my favorite aspect, a blog. The blog will mostly be me documenting what's on my heart and writing down the things God is teaching me through Scripture or life experiences. Really, the blog is meant for me to start transitioning to a technology age and journal via online on a computer so I don't kill so many trees with my paper journals. Here's just 4 of my many journals I've filled.

"So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law of the Prophets" Matthew 7:12

"Whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" Colossians 3:23

These verses have been convicting me the most within the past few months, which I think is why I have made them part of my mission statement. (Psalm 100 is also a key passage of Scripture to the why I do what I do, but that one has its own post because it has been so influential on my life.) These verses are the 'why's behind how I function. Matthew 7:12 is traditionally known as the golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Long story short, there have been moments in my life where I wish someone would have just told me the truth instead of me being willy-nilly, not actually having a tight grasp on what I was being taught. I wish that I would have just said, "hey, I'm clueless. Could we go back to the basics and chill there till I understand it?" This is why the golden rule is part of my mission statement. We all want the truth, we all want honesty, so let's give it to each other.

Colossians 3:23 is my theme for the 2020-2021 school year. My first year of graduate school, I often found myself slacking, or having a terrible attitude towards the work that was set before me. I was disappointed in myself and the aura I was releasing among my colleagues tended to be more negative. I learned this verse in 5th grade via a catchy tune my music teacher taught me, but it wasn't until recently that I think I fully grasped its contents. The work the Lord has given me to do, the performances he's allowed me to give, the materials I get to study, that's all for the glory of the Lord. The work is there to point ourselves to Christ.

So, there's a very quick reasoning behind why those two verses are my mission statement. Maybe in the future, I hash them out more in depth, but for now, that's gonna do.

Catch ya on the flippity flip!
